PREREQUISITE: Carbine 1 & 2 with ERT
4-hour night course covering the following:
-Safety
-Low light environments
Effects and contributing factors
Using the light in our favor
-Devices that can help
Hand held and weapon mounted
-Low light that requires aid
Types of lights
Types of lighting
Aiming devices
Effects on the shooter
-No light
Items used, Lights, and laser aiming aids as well as vehicles and flairs (independent lighting)
-Blacked out shooting
NVG (clip-on, dedicated, helmet mounted) pros and cons, compatibility of each item and the ability to test some of these
-Thermals (clip-on, dedicated, helmet mounted)pros and cons, compatibility of each item and the ability to test some of these.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED:
• Carbine & 200 rounds of ammo
• Weapon light if you have one (don’t buy one if you don’t already have one as you’ll learn the difference or good and bad ones in the class)
• Handheld light if you have one (don’t buy one if you don’t already have one as you’ll learn the difference or good and bad ones in the class)
• 3 mags
• Something to carry your mags (body armor or vest)
• Clear eye protection
• Ear protection
• Weather appropriate clothing
• Water and a snack
